What is this “zine”-thing anyway?!
A zine (pronounced “zeen”) is a self-published, DIY work of text and art. Zines are usually in the form of a booklet, ranging from multiple sheets stapled together to one page, folded multiple times. Zines allow more freedom than traditional publications because ANYONE can make a zine about ANYTHING! They also have a much bigger focus on sharing ideas and things you care about and they’re often given out for free, sold cheaply or traded for other zines! They’re similar to their bigger namesake, the maga-ZINE, but without the endless advertising and consumerist agenda.
